Mojo’s Coffee Bar opened in Newton in 2009, but it was a work in progress for 20 years prior to that. “As a college student in the 80’s, I fell in love with the culture of coffee shops,” says owner Patty Meier. The dream took hold then, of wanting to own and operate her own business where community and coffee would go hand in hand. Mojo’s at Newton Medical Center opened in the lobby in 2009 while Meier still worked as an educator at Hesston College. As soon as the NMC shop opened, Meier was contacted by the student government group at Bethel College to see if she would consider opening a shop on campus. “It was an ideal location,” says Meier, “both attached to the college and easily accessible to the community.”

Mojo’s at Bethel opened in 2010 and the two shops have since become well known for everything Meier had dreamed of – an independently-owned local business where community comes together to have quality coffee, meet friends, and have fun. The shop in North Newton has expanded to do catering, have extensive food offerings (all made in house), as well as local artist products, music, and more. Mojo’s is open Monday – Saturday and offers high-quality coffee made by well-trained baristas. Their roaster, PT’s, is an award-winning local roaster from Topeka, Kansas. Follow Mojo’s on Facebook or Instagram to keep current with what is happening at the shop.
