Harvey County Homeless ShelterThe vision of the Harvey County Homeless Shelter, Inc.: Following Christ, Building the Community.

The mission of the Harvey County Homeless Shelter, Inc. is to provide a sanctuary for those experiencing homelessness in the Harvey County area by uniting the local church into a nurturing community which restores hope through a growing relationship with Christ.

The Harvey County Homeless Shelter provides emergency and temporary shelter to men, women, and families. HCHS has 12 men’s beds, 6 women’s beds, and 3 family rooms. In 2015, HCHS cared for 294 people. Of these 294 people, over 60% were our neighbors from the Harvey County area.

HCHS is funded through private contributions from churches, businesses, and individuals; we accept no government funding. We are also supported by over 600 volunteers in the local area that help to cover the daily shifts, provide the evening meals, and work with staff in various ways to provide for the operation of HCHS.

HCHS takes a pro-active approach to ministry and has created partnerships with local agencies to aid people in finding stability and hope in their lives.

It is through the love of Christ that we exist and it is through the love of Christ we share with those in need of hope and a hand up.
